How Long Does Weightloss Take After Pregnancy

How long does weightloss take after pregnancy

Postpartum weightloss is one of those taboo subjects. The moms love to read about it and look for the perfect answer, YET they don’t want to admit it.

I’m gonna drop ALL my knowledge here for ya so you can understand how long does weightloss take after pregnancy. *I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice, please be sure to consult your doctor or health care practitioner before beginning any weightloss program.*  The best part, this is NOT a diet folks I do not condone any sort of the thing.

With that being said, I want you know to know, if you are postpartum your body is GOOD. It probably feels different but it is BEAUTIFUL & GOOD & this game plan is only going to make you FEEL good from the inside out. Ready?!

Yeah!

I have had the joy of having 5 children in 5.5 years. It has been the greatest blessing but my goodness has it made me feel old. HA! This 5th time around I was the biggest I had ever been with a pregnancy, so I was anxious to lose the weight but also knew the days were going to pass too quickly & I wanted to enjoy my baby too!

With that being said, I knew I would need to focus on nutrition first and foremost so that I could lose baby weight without exercise. Exercise in the form of committing to 30 minutes a day, I knew the most I could do at this time was 10-12 minutes of mobility, stability & core exercises.

And I won’t lie ya’ll, I SAW the other moms out there on social, with their 4th or 5th kid looking wayyyyy thinner than me, but I shut that down quick. Comparison is the thief of joy & I wasn’t gonna go there. I didn’t care if I was till wearing my maternity shorts 6 months postpartum (Yup still am) I told myself maybe next summer I won’t have too, but I knew starting NOW was going to make me feel better than starting later.

Let me preface, the point of doing these 5 things consistently is going to bring you to your goals WHILE allowing you to FEEL GOOD. And it’s all about the FEELING GOOD while slowly & consistently, without deprivation aiding in weightloss after baby.

How long does weightloss take after pregnancy: 5 tips:

  1. Whole Foods
  2. Supplements
  3. Daily Mediation/Breathing
  4. Rehab Exercises
  5. Strength training resistance bands with nutrition cycle.

In detailed format:

  1. Why Whole Foods:
    1. Whole foods, anything that comes from the ground or has a mother. The less processed the better..WHY? Because our bodies were not made to process ingredients that are made in labs. I love me some crackers or potato chips but there is a time and place for that yeah? Using whole foods to fill your macro buckets is best. This will give you lasting energy AND help heal your gut while aiding in postpartum weight-loss.
    2. Why Supplements: After you have a baby your body is in a state of depletion from (hellooo) growing a human! In order to restore all the macro and micro nutritients our bodies need whole foods and vitamins to fill in the gaps. A postnatal, collagen and ashwaganda is a great place to start. Focusing on gut health can relieve much bloating & gas that takes place after baby; especially those who have a c-section. *affiliate links*
    3. Why Daily Meditation Breathing :  Focusing on your breathing after baby is going to continue to put your body into a stress free state which will allow you to feel better while reducing weight gain in your center.
    4. Why Rehab Exercises: Pregnancy is hard work! Our bodies work overtime and our muscles do a lot of stretching; especially the area around our mid section and our glutes. Proper rebuilding of these areas takes patience  & mindful movements with form and function to aid in postpartum weightloss.
    5. Why Strength Training: We lose muscle mass during pregnancy. Every pregnant woman will, its the science behind it. Strength training, (starting with body weight) begins to fire the muscles back into action. Strong muscles bring stability as well as aiding in fat burning. Muscle burns fat. Due to the nature of a busy life after the birth of a baby, it’s important that starting with those small internal muscle building techniques is going to take you further than starting an intense workout program.

One question I want to address is one I get often and is “But Kaitlin….how long does weightloss take after pregnancy?!”

A: I know we all want to drop the weight since yesterday, but remember that your body is GOOD & AMAZING. Everyone is going to have a different time line in this area. It is all going to depend on stress levels, quality sleep, and NUTRITION. Following these 5 steps & doing your very best to show up for yourself daily & consistently…weightloss after baby is going to happen sooner for you.
