What to Pack in your hospital bag: Minimilast Version

Whoohoo! Hospital bag list

You have reached that point in your pregnancy where it is TIME to get your hospital bag must haves packed! How exciting!

Here is a downloadable Hospital Bag checklist for you if you’d like to snag that:

Now, if you hit up social media, or google or pinterest you’ll find that all these mommas are giving you 2823823892289 things that you need to buy and pack for your hospital bag must haves; but lets keep it REAL & Simple shall we?!

I’m here to tell ya; you don’t need ALL THE THINGS. You need SOME things and seeing as I’ve had 5 children (well hoping this last one comes out soon here folks) This hospital bag must have list is what is really essential.  For you, baby and spouse while you have your stay at the hospital welcoming your new little bundle.

You can catch the video HERE so you can see some of these hospital bag must haves in person; otherwise I have linked most items here for you in case you are looking for something similar. Some items I also have coupons available for you if you so choose; enjoy Momma!

  1. For BABY:
    1. One or two swaddle blankets
    2. binkies/paci
    3. Coming home outfit
    4. Hat
    5. Carseat! —Leave it in the car until the nurses want to inspect it.
  2. For YOU:
    1. Comfy Nursing Bra-My fav @Baobeimaternity
    2. Nursing tank
    3. Loose, comfy pants to come home in
    4. Loose Shirt to come home in
    5. Robe (not a need–just a comfort thing)
    6. A few pairs of socks
    7. Toothbrush/Toothpaste
    8. Face wash/Face Cream
    9. Chapstick
    10. Extra hair ties
    11. Body lotion (gets sooooo dry in the hospital!)
    12. Shampoo & conditioner (hospital will have these items but they are basic & its nice to have your own)
    13. Period Unides to come home in—I highly enjoy THINX–this link will save you $10
    14. Extra smaller/thinner pads and or comfy undies (think large-er)
    15. Phone Charger
    16. Ear Buds
    17. Possible snacks! Nice to have some granola bars or beef sticks or crackers
    18. Pink Stork Postpartum Recovery Tea
  3. For Spouse/Significant other:
    1. Extra shirt
    2. Comfy pants
    3. Socks
    4. Undies
    5. Possibly an extra pair of pants
    6. Toothbrush/toothpaste
    7. Any book or electronic device
  4. Some things that you CAN bring for extra comfort if need be in your hospital bag must haves; Depending on labor and birth situation & personal needs:
    1. Oils to help with relaxation or some like to bring a light
    2. Boopy pillow (Trust me they give you all the pillows you need to make you feel comfortable otherwise
    3. If your a FTM; you can bring your breast pump so your nurses can show you how to use it if that is something you will use.
    4. A book? You can bring one but you’ll probably be busy with baby or sleeping.
    5. Makeup, I never use this, but if you would rather than by all means.

IN CONCLUSION:

In all honesty, while you are in the hospital; they will provide you with most of the things that you will need. It really is about bringing those few items that will make you feel comfortable and clean based on your personal preferances. That first shower after baby is HEAVEN & just having your regular shampoo is amaze-balls–so be sure not to skimp on this one in your hospital bag must haves!

Coming home is all about comfort though; and its gonna feel weird walking out of the hospital without a baby in your belly, a pad in your crotch and you’ll more than likely be a bit sore no matter what form of birth you gave (c-section or vaginal). So don’t bring the jeans mmmk? Comfy PJ pants are FINEEE..you DID just birth life so no need to be extra. Best of Luck Momma!
