How to have an easier labor and delivery

If this is your first pregnant you might be terrified of what is about to come for labor and delivery. You want to prepare your body and mind the best of your ability; however there is so much information out there, so many horror stories you just don’t even know where to begin.

So lets break this down, in order to have an easier labor & delivery there are a few things you need to understand:

  1. Understand your anatomy-so you know how your body is changing and how to work with it.
  2. Prepare your mind-mindset is crucial to an easier labor and delivery
  3. Prepare your body physically-you can do this easily from the comfort of your own home
  4. Have a birth plan of sorts

Your pregnancy anatomy

Understanding your anatomy might seem silly, but if you really think about it is so helpful to know what is going on in that body of yours so you can work with it instead of against it.

There are so many aspects of labor that happen natural so tapping into those pieces makes things easier.

You want to first understand how to breath correctly, you want to know how to use your deep core, how to relax your pelvic floor and optimal positioning to allow your baby to come down and out.

This guided journal walks you through the exact steps of understanding the essential foundations of your body so you can tap into it, work with it and feel empowered as you navigate your pregnancy journey.

Your Mindset Matters

Our mind can do big things. It can also limit and inhibit us depending on what we are telling it.

If you are telling it that you are terrified, that you can’t do it, that you don’t know how to do it..your body will pick up on that.

Keeping positive thoughts, positive affirmations is going to help you when you it feels hard. Having your parter/spouse remind you of these things is also really important during the harder parts.

They have done studies to compare running a marathon and childbirth, they are very similar but childbirth deemed to be a few degrees harder.

PHysically prepare for birth

Physically preparing birth does not have feel overwhelming or difficult. With access to social media and the internet today it can feel really overwhelming when you start looking for “exercise to help for an easier labor and birth.”

Preparing physically for an easier labor and birth starts with understanding your anatomy, how it all works together to support your body and how you can reduce pain in your journey and prepare the specific areas that are effected during your labor and birth. This includes your deep core, pelvic floor, glutes, inner thighs and how your breathing ties it all in.

You want to specifically strengthen those muscles that are effected during pregnancy so you your body and mind feel ready.

Setting up a birth plan

Setting up a birth plan is helpful for your planning purposes. It allows you to decide what exactly you want. Of course that comes with a grain of salt because that can also go out the window and many times our births don’t go ‘according to plan’.

However during your pregnancy it’s important to look into different things that you may want or not want, such as pain medication, non-traditional birthing techniques, lights on or dim, a birthing pool, birth balls, if you want a doula to support you, who you want in the room with you, visiting hours for after and so forth.

In Conclusion

What you need to focus on to have an easier labor and delivery, 1. understand your anatomy so you can work with it, 2. prepare your mind, 3. prepare your body physically and 4. Have a birth plan of sorts.
