Postpartum Weight Loss: The Best Weight Loss Plan.

June 4, 2021 by Coach Kaitlin Leave a Comment

Postpartum weightloss plan.

Losing the baby weight after birth, postpartum weightloss. How to lose the postpartum belly.

It’s a BIG topic, its kinda taboo and its kinda sickening the way the media AND social media will make you feel.

AND it honestly is a GREAT marketing strategy for many weight loss business. I won’t lie in my past online health coaching, I used my own postpartum body as a means to market weightloss. I have to tell you, I would share over and over that health trumps ALL but can I tell you the ONLY tactic that took well was when I used words like:

  • postpartum weight-loss plan.
  • post pregnancy weight-loss diet plan,
  • quickest way to lose weight after having a baby,
  • best post pregnancy diets.
  • post pregnancy weight loss exercise,
  • rapid weight loss after pregnancy.
  • baby weight loss after birth,
And honestly if you head over to google those are going to be the MAIN things that pop up in your search bar too.
I have to say the ONLY one I want to touch on today is How to lose weight after pregnancy, naturally.
  • No Fad Diets
  • No Hours of daily exercise
  • No restriction
  • No weird pill or fat blockers
  • No starvation
Just a simple, no fail, eat good food, lose weight and still make milk for your baby (if you happen to choose breastfeeding!)

Having FIVE children in a short 5.5 years, I can tell you, with each child the weight has come off a little slower each time. Each time I have learned a bit more and become a bit more wise about approaching “post baby” weight loss in a healthy way. I never reached my pre-pregnancy weight after my third baby by the time I found out I was expecting again–it was a bit of a blow but at the same time WHAT DID IT MATTER?!  No one cared about that but ME, so why stress about it.
I CAN say that after my third pregnancy my body was TIRED. It still is TIRED now that I just had baby number four. Fitness has always played a HUGE role in my life. So much that periods of my life were spent over exercising because I wanted to be more fit.

ANYHOW the point of this is that I always had the mindset that EXERCISE was the answer to weight loss. That one MUST exercise in order to lose weight; anyone else feel me on this?? After my third baby was born; I reached a point of wisdom. All the exercise in the world would not bring me back to my jeans. Exercise can have a ROLE in this journey but if you continue to put in food in your mouth that is not supporting your goals, and use exercise as the answer–it ain’t gonna happen.

FOOD, NUTRITION is the answer to your weight loss journey after baby. Not only weight loss but FEELING good. Feeling good is ultimately the ONLY thing a new mom should be worrying about. Part of that feeling good is FOOD.

So lets break a few things down first.
PREGNANCY WEIGHT GAIN CALCULATOR.
Lets break down the actual average amount you HAVE to gain to grow a cute mini life; ‘cuz lets be real, no pregnant woman out there has gained 0 pounds with her pregnancy.
Average weight gain distribution:
  • 7 1/2 pounds is about how much the baby will weigh by the end of pregnancy.
  • 1 1/2 pounds goes to your placenta.
  • 4 pounds is attributed to more fluid volume.
  • 2 pounds goes to your uterus.
  • 2 pounds goes to  breast tissue.
  • 4 pounds because of increased blood volume.
  • 7 pounds is attributed to maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients.
  • 2 pounds for the amniotic fluid.
  • Total: 30 pounds

30 pounds at minimum Momma’s! And a lot of that will slowly fall off those first few weeks after you have baby and your body slowly realizes your baby is no longer in there.

SO HOW DO I SAFELY LOSE WEIGHT AFTER BABY IS BORN? Is there a specific postpartum weightloss plan I should follow?

You follow these few steps:
  1. Drink water! Like SO MUCH WATER
  2. Eat Whole Foods
  3. Lean Proteins
  4. Fiber Filled Carbohydrates
  5. Healthy Fats
  6. Track your Macros
  7. Sleep!! (seriously sleep, that can be adding to your weight gain or lack of losing)
  8. Be grateful

  9. Healing Herbs
  10. Intermittent Fasting & Carb Cycling (THE RIGHT WAY!)

IF you are a new mom looking to lose the baby weight, and feeling taunted by the wraps, the pills, the juice cleanses, the exercising for hours on end–don’t do it. Because that will leave you empty, more tired, stressed and annoyed that it’s not working. As a momma you have so much on your plate, worrying about what diet to do or what you can’t have is stressful.

IN CONCLUSION:

In order to lose weight after pregnancy, naturally you need to eat GOOD food–veggies, lean proteins, whole foods, healthy fats and drink water! Vitamins and minerals are also essential so  that your body can build back its depleted stores.

With that being said, there is is an amazing program that will teach you whole food nutrition, how much you SHOULD be eating vs what you should not eat. I learned this during my 5th pregnancy and it as given me complete food freedom & allowed the baby weight to come off naturally while keeping my milk supply up. It will leave you with more energy than before & teach how your body words.
