7 Things To Help You Get Pregnant in 2020.

August 11, 2020 by Coach Kaitlin Leave a Comment

What can I do to increase my chances of conceiving?

Chances are if you are trying to conceive you’ve gone to google and READ ALL THE THINGS.

  • Stop drinking alcohol.
  • Stop drinking caffeine.
  • Stop working out.
  • Don’t do crunches.
  • Buy ovulation trackers.
  • Track your cycle.
  • Buy those sticks you can pee on so you know when your fertile.
  • Have sex twice a day!

Don’t eat this and Don’t eat that.

Really, its overwhelming and if you read all the things your stress levels might start rising & that is the LAST thing you want.

Now, I want to be completely transparent with you, I have never struggled with conceiving. However; I have worked with many clients that have and have done research on the subject matter and personally it comes down to these few things that you SHOULD focus on so you don’t turn into a psycho-path.

My first & second pregnancy was really the only time I actually TRIED to get pregnant. I want to note that I was NOT on hormonal birth control at all. I used the Nuva-ring for a short period of time (2 years) with my one and only ex-boyfriend but other than that I did not use any hormonal birth control. When my husband and I got married we said it if it happens it happens. We literally used the pull out method until we were actually “ready”. I thought I knew how to track my cycle (I’ve learned a lot since) and used an APP to tell me when I was fertile (not accurate) but mostly I just said whatever and enjoyed making love with my husband. When you feel like you want sex you are most likely fertile or close to it. Nature is a wonderful thing so tune into your body!

7 things to help you get pregnant in 2020:

  1. REDUCE STRESS: so if you exercise, there is no reason to stop; unless you are currently an obsessive exerciser, aim for 20-30 minutes 5-6 days a week. We all know the benefits of exercise are endless and this does not change while you’re trying to conceive or when first pregnant.
  2. NUTRITION: drink lots of water, you can still have your cup of coffee, but I’d ditch the soda and other sugary things. Focus on whole foods, lean proteins (beans, chicken, whole milk dairy, organic beef). Take a prenatal, highly recommend this one, and eat healthy fats! You NEED fats to grow a baby. Avocado, olive oil, organic butter, egg yolks, nuts, seeds, olives, things of that nature. Now is not the time to restrict and diet. Eat when your hungry & enjoy it.
  3. KNOW YOUR CYCLE: Read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Borrow it from your Library or from Amazon, but this book has amazing & wonderful helpful information no matter what woman issue you might be dealing with. It goes into detail about tracking (you’ll want this for after that baby comes) and honestly just a lot about understanding your lady parts you may not know, and share it with your husband! This is a period of your life you both need to learn about each other.
  4. DITCH THE TOXINS: You don’t have to start going cray-cray, because you won’t be able to avoid them all but look at what you put ON & IN your body from your lotions, to shampoo, deodorant, face wash, make up, perfume, shaving cream, shower lotion etc. The majority of our personal items unfortunately all have toxins in them that will disrupt your endocrine system which affects your hormones which affects your fertility. Check on your partner’s stuff too! Men use less ‘stuff’ but it still affects their bodies too!
  5. Don’t stress about it. Don’t stress about it. This, coming from experience, is easier said than done. You will have friends who have the most perfect cycle, know the exact day they are ovulating, have sex and bam pregnant. You will have friends who have the most irregular cycles and never ovulate at the same time and have no idea if they are pregnant until 2 months later. You will be somewhere in between and that is OK. Every BODY is different and the important thing here is to start learning your own rhythms, trying not to control them & wishing you were like someone else.
  6. LIFE HAPPENS: It’s OK to feel frustrated and annoyed. It is not your fault or your partners fault. Conceiving in this time and age is a funny thing, many of you have been on hormonal birth control for years and years; your body does not understand what a normal cycle is without a disruption. This sometimes can take a very long time for our body to find its normal state again. Some of you will miscarry, again its OK to feel what you feel. No matter what that feeling is. 1 in 4 women have a miscarriage, its more common than you think. My third pregnancy ended in miscarriage, and every body has different feelings about them. So my advice to you is feel what you want to feel, say what you need to say and talk about  it when your ready. It will help you heal. Remember, His plans, are not always our plans & sometimes that is hard to accept. (its OK to feel that way K?)
  7. CORE4: Lastly, start understanding how your Core4 works, what your pelvic floor is, your deep core and the such. Why? Because it will keep your mind busy on other things, it will bring your stress down & allow you to start focusing on how amazing your body is & all the wonders it still has yet to bring you. If you haven’t taken the free challenge, do that now, right here. And be sure to check out the Foundations course. It’s a great place to get started on this journey.

in conclusion:

That period of time when you finally decide YES! I’m ready to have a baby can feel really exciting, yet really scary. Are we ever REALLY ready to have a baby? Probably not but its more of a FEELING, than a feeling of READINESS. Today, struggles with infertility seem more prevalent than ever before. 9% of men & 11% of women struggle with infertility.

As our generation focuses more on careers, couples are having babies later in age which contributes to this struggle. It is also important to note there are several outside factors, as mentioned above, such as toxins, use of hormonal birth control and nutrition that also come into effect while a couple is trying to conceive.

Let it be noted that many ‘healthy’ couples can take up to a year to conceive. Patience is a virtue, as difficult as it is during this time remember to reduce the stress & take faith that what is meant to be will take place.

When trying to conceive, or better yet before you actually GET to that point be sure to look into the outside factors, such as toxins, hormonal birth control & nutrition and begin to make changes as soon as you are able.

Cheering for you!

XO

NOTES:

*It has been noted that acupuncture/naturopath/herbalist is a great place to start if infertility is an issue. Doing more research on this for you and will share more soon.
