How to Lose The Baby Weight

So first things first, you do not need to spend thousands of dollars on a personal trainer, you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on a nutritionist, or Jenny Craig or curb your craving pills. These things may work for a short period of time but they are not sustainable long term. Short term, overnight results are not realistic and will not keep you healthy OR your baby healthy.
Is it hard to lose the baby weight?
It really depends on SO many things. How healthy/active where you before and during pregnancy, are you breastfeeding and are you willing to focus on nutrition as fuel?
How much weight do you lose giving birth?
Did you know you typically lose around 10-12lbs after giving birth to baby? Well because some of that is your baby; some is your placenta and the amniotic fluid. Over the course of the next 5 days you will most likely lose another 3-5lbs due to swelling or water retention that took place during labor and delivery.

How to lose the weight?
Focus on quality over quantity. Rest, hydrate, eat whole foods and have a proper plan for building back up to exercise.
Here are 5 tips to feeling strong & confident in your postpartum body.
- BREATHE.
As soon as your baby is born you should focus on your diaphragmatic breathing. This allows you to connect back to your breath without baby in there, it reduces toxins in your body, gently massages your organs back into place AND reduces stress.
2. HYDRATE.
Labor and delivery is a marathon! You must recover and hydration is essential to eliminating toxins and replenishing any electrolytes that were lost during the big event. If you had medications it will flush those out of your system and keep your bowls moving along and we ALL want that first thing! It will also aid in weight loss because well hydrated body is a happy body.
3. WHOLE FOODS.
Eat WHOLE foods. More from the earth, less from a box. Cut out SUGAR. Manmade sugar. Focus on whole foods, healthy fats, lean proteins and veggies, veggies, veggies.
God gave us this wonderful world to sustain us. He gave us everything we needed from the great outdoors. Unfortunately we are coming further and further away from food in its natural state. People are in a rush, more of it is being put into a box with a never ending expiration date. Most of these foods are being pumped with artificial sugars. But here is the thing; sugar is also killing people. Sugar is causing cancer. Sugar is addicting and lights up the same area of the brain as someone who is addicted to heroin. WE MUST try our hardest to be extremely mindful of our sugar intake!
4. RESTORE YOUR CORE
Depending on how your labor and delivery went, vaginal or c-section, will depend when you can start exercising again. The FIRST place you must start regardless is restoring your core. (No matter HOW BADLY you want to jump into an exercise program!!) You must reconnect your muscle fibers in that area to heal and then restrengthen. Speaking from experience AND research, this is a very vital step but missed by many! (One of the reasons I created Postpartum Rehab the blueprint for your core healing Momma!)
5.FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT & RESISTANCE
Once your core is feeling strong, & you have worked your way up to functional movements Focus on resistance training. Either with bands, weights or body weight 3x a week.
As you progress with your healing during the postpartum period and begin to build strength you can add more strength training as you see fit. Remember that you must first be intentional with your everyday movements before you increase intensity. You must first walk before you run.
